Faez was walking to work in his hometown of Daraa, the southern Syrian city where the protest is against the president first erupted. For young people like Faez, leaving the house in the spring
of 2013 had become a game of Russian roulette.

accused of being terrorists. Then he was standing at the gunpoint with his hands in the air and he recalls regretting the walk to work. He was very scared and shocked.
He was lucky. At that moment an old woman turned into the street, begging for the gun-toting soldiers to spare these men. They were her son, her nephew, her neighbors, the old lady pleaded. Faez
had never seen this woman before bust she saved his live.
On this day Faez decided to flee Syria. He talked to his family and after that, they packed a few things that were important. The following day they walked out of the door and left their live
behind. From now they started a new life with a better future.
